Mia Zapata was lead singer with the Gits, a Seattle-based band famous for their indie album Frenching the Bully. In July of 1993 she was raped and murdered, after walking out the door of a well-known tavern to an unknown fate.
Seattle's art and music communities drew together when Mia's murderer remained unfound: they launched a fund to maintain her investigation. Recent TV spots have given them several leads, so stars from 7 Year Bitch to Joan Jett have been soliciting donations.
(Jett's newest video, "Go Home"(832K), tells Mia's story).
Should you be able to donate a few dollars, send them to: The MIA ZAPATA INVESTIGATIVE FUND, 2602 NE 65th St, Seattle WA 98115 US.
