• We interupt this broadcast to bring you news of something you might have seen on the way to the Big Chill today, if you weren't quite ready to chill.
In an act of skateboard subversion, the new Plan B Video, "Second Hand Smoke" had its UK premiere at the National Film Theatre at London's South Bank.
Hundreds of skaters converged on the film centre and, for once, the security guards had to let them in! (The relationship between the skaters and the authorities at the South Bank is often often very strained.)

  • Inside the plush theatre Britain's skate community was treated to a video projected on a screen big enough to match the scale of the skating being shown -- notably Jeremy Wray's use of a set of stairs which resembled a cliff drop.

Mullen also aroused new respect with a mixture of technical (back to finger taping) and bigger stuff.

  • After the premiere the skaters showed their appreciation for their home at the South Bank by sessioning it something rotten.

And here's a taste of the action for you -- Carl Shipman frontsiding the bars. (The bars were installed a few years ago to stop people skating, by the way.)
